Our transition to more sustainable fashion begins with the fabrics we choose. In response to environmental imperatives, we’ve decided to use more recycled and natural fibres, without ever compromising on our products’ quality and longevity.
INNOVATING
We use ECONYL® regenerated nylon , which is made from fishing nets and other industrial waste and is infinitely recyclable, with a carbon footprint which is up to 90% lower than ordinary nylon. For some pieces, we also use NEW LIFE, recycled polyester, produced from plastic bottles, and Seaqual®, polyester yarn, made from marine waste, reflecting our desire to breathe new life into waste materials. At the same time, we continue to include more natural materials in our collections, such as linen, which ensures environmentally friendly farming practices, organic cotton, which makes up 67% of our cotton pieces in 2025, and Woolmark’s Super 120’s Merino wool. TENCEL™ from certified or controlled wood sources (FSC® or PEFC certified) completes our range of sustainable fabrics.

All these materials are carefully chosen with a focus on sustainability, comfort and style, ensuring that every piece can be worn season after season. Our suppliers are contractually bound by strict specifications which are consistent with our quality charter and current ISO standards, guaranteeing the quality, reliability and accountability of our supply chains.

MINIMISING DISTANCES
At Vilebrequin, we believe that sustainability also involves choosing to manufacture as close to home as possible. 90% of our clothes are manufactured in the Euro-Mediterranean region, including in France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey. Not only does this reduce the distances when transporting our products (and therefore our carbon footprint), it also ensures better oversight of working conditions and manufacturing quality.
IMPROVING TRACEABILITY
We have developed long-standing working relationships with our suppliers, built on trust. For decades now, we have worked closely with dedicated partners which value people and their skills. For some pieces, we have developed partnerships with major French textile manufacturers, including Fremaux Delorme and Les Tissages Perrin. They represent the very best French craftsmanship and work with us to create particularly sophisticated pieces, featuring details which reflect the high standards of the luxury industry and the quality of the country’s long-standing expertise in textiles. Through these close working relationships, we improve traceability, provide technical and logistical support when necessary and strive to continuously improve our processes. Every fabric and every print are subject to stringent testing.

We recently opened a dedicated repair workshop in Rue Marboeuf in Paris, where qualified experts provide meticulous repairs. From damaged belts to worn linings and more, our skilled specialists can restore your favourite swimsuit to its former glory. They do their utmost to make your clothes last longer and reduce waste.
