Design Parade Toulon x Vilebrequin 2019

For the fourth edition of Design Parade Toulon (27th-30th June 2019), an interior design festival, Vilebrequin reasserted its support of young creators and its Mediterranean heritage. We spoke to some of the young designers that took part in the competition.

VBQ: How is it inspired by the French Riviera?

First of all, we followed the tradition of modern ceramicists in the South of France and were inspired by local architectural codes such as the reinterpretation of “génoise”, a roof tiling technique used in the South of France. But we also took a more global approach by borrowing elements from other Mediterranean countries, such as zellige, white-washing and Berber carpets used as bolsters. The overall atmosphere of the room is very stripped back and, along with its large seats, it is an invitation to meditation.
