What makes these swim shorts genuinely luxurious?
The answer lies in the details, and there are many. Every pair in this collection is the result of meticulous craftsmanship, with the Maison's 32-step manufacturing process ensuring that each swim short is as refined on the inside as it appears on the outside. Seamless linings, hand-assembled drawstrings and anti-ballooning eyelets are standard across the range.
At the summit of the collection sit the Mistral embroidered swim shorts: each design is produced in a maximum of 299 numbered pairs, with the all-over embroidery requiring close to a year of work per piece. Alongside these, the Natural Fibres line introduces ultrafine wool swim shorts, crafted in collaboration with Italian specialist REDA, bringing a Prince of Wales check or tartan pattern to the water's edge with quiet, unexpected elegance.
Which style of luxury swim shorts is right for you?
The range spans several distinct styles, each with its own character and occasion:
The Mahina: ultra-light and packable, folding neatly into its rear pocket. The natural choice for the well-travelled man who refuses to compromise on elegance.
The stretch short cut: a shorter, slimmer silhouette with added stretch for ease of movement, available in vivid prints and family-matching designs.
The Menise and Merise: flat-belt styles with a tailored waistband and a refined, retro feel. The choice for those who prefer a cleaner, more structured line.
Natural Fibres: ultrafine wool swim shorts that move effortlessly from the pool to the terrace.
Several styles are also available in matching father-and-son prints, turning the choice of swim shorts into something a little more meaningful.
Are luxury swim shorts worth giving as a gift?
Few gifts carry quite the same weight as a pair of Vilebrequin swim shorts. They are made to last, not just one summer but many. The Maison's repair service means that a favourite pair can be restored rather than replaced, preserving the memories of every holiday they have accompanied. For a gift of real distinction, the Mistral numbered editions are in a category of their own.
