Vilebrequin turns half a century this year (though you’d never think it to look at us!). Perfecting the art of living in the sun all year long has a way of keeping you young. Discover now the exclusive drop of 50 collector’s edition swim trunks, one per year from 1971 to 2021.

Though you’re probably already familiar with our story, take a moment to picture the scene: St-Tropez, 1971. To win over Yvette, Fred Prysquel decided to get innovative on the swimwear front, taking inspiration from his travels. Little did he know he was about to launch a whole new trend, setting the wheels in motion for Vilebrequin.

Bathed in color, freedom, and fun since day one, Vilebrequin’s spirit shines on through this anniversary collection of 50 collectors edition swimsuits — one a year from 1971 to 2021, with a special guest appearance from one or more Mistral embroidered trunks per decade. They don’t come more collectible than that.

To (re-)create these exclusive pieces, Vilebrequin studios had to dive deep into the House’s archives. And they dug up some real gems in the process! Some were so exquisite they deserved a revival; others have been playfully revisited along the way… Any excuse!

This collection is a chance to travel back through time, but also to think about tomorrow. Feet in the sand, head in the sky, we intend to surprise and inspire generations of vacation lovers for another fifty years to come… minimum! With this in mind, we are pleased to offer clients a one-time complimentary repair service on their special edition swimsuits, in case they should start to show signs of ageing after years of sea and sun.

Looking to the future also means caring for our planet. In 2021, recycled or recyclable materials already represent 50% of the collections; by 2025, that figure will rise to 80%. As we continue to support Polynesian conservancy Te Mana O Te Moana’s work to protect sea turtle populations, 2021 sees us reach a new milestone with the launch of the Fondation Vilebrequin, created to promote marine biodiversity. We’re rolling up our sleeves and ready to make a real impact.
