Design Parade Toulon x Vilebrequin

For the second edition of the Design Parade Festival in Toulon which promotes interior design, Paul Brissonet and Alexandre Benjamin Navet were awarded the Grand Prize. Vilebrequin, providing a longtime and ongoing support to the young artists, met them.

VBQ : What is your background and how did you two meet?

P.B & A.B.N : We both come from the design world: space design for one, and industrial design for the other. The story of our duo started recently. We met over coffee because we loved each other's work. We agreed to just exchange a book for a picture, but during this first meeting we were convinced that we really wanted to work together.

VBQ : Could you please describe your project of Living Room

P.B & A.B.N : The utopian nature of the project is a place where you no longer distinguish the walls. Just like a tornado invading the room which becomes a mess. The floor surface is entirely covered with sand, showing furniture items. The living room is modular and adjusted depending on the different times of the day. Boxes containing everyday objects can either be visible or recessed. The walls are available to the resident to write, draw or paint.

VBQ : You were awarded the Grand Jury Prize. How does it affect your holidays?

P.B & A.B.N : We said goodbye to our summer holidays... More seriously, winning the prestigious contest DESIGN PARADE TOULON opens up new opportunities and offers new playing fields. We particularly met some great people during this festival, great partners that trusted us immediately, like the Blakbody Oled company with which we designed 'Parade', an exceptional luminaire/mirror (for our scenery).

VBQ : What would you have done in 1971 in Saint-Tropez?

P.B & A.B.N : We would have gone to Mick Jagger & Bianca's wedding, in a sky blue Mehari. It makes sense!
